National Principals Month: Thank you, Principal Wood!

Newcastle Principal Tod Wood

It's National Principals Month and we're shining the spotlight on Newcastle Elementary School Principal Tod Wood. Be sure to scroll down to check out the amazing student-created portrait of Principal Wood! Also, who’s up for a game of Scrabble?

How many years have you worked in education? 37 years

How long have you worked with the ISD? 9 years

What is one of your favorite memories from when you were in school as a student? Having some teachers who really cared and invested in me.

If you could live in any fantasy world, what would it be? The Land of Oz (I read the entire series in third grade and it was my first fantasy world)!

Who inspires you, and why? I am very much influenced by Martin Luther King, Jr. and his desire to resolve conflicts through creative and peaceful means.

What is one of your hobbies or something you’re a huge fan of (and briefly explain why)? I enjoy playing modern board games.  I really enjoy the unique challenge that each provides, and mustering up the creativity and strategy needed to master the game (i.e. win)!

What did you do for fun/to relax this summer? Built a fence.

What’s your biggest hope for this school year?  My biggest hope is that our students will continue to have the opportunity to learn in person with their teachers and their peers in a nurturing and caring environment!
