Kindergarten Registration Now Open!

If your child will be five years old by Aug. 31, 2024, and you live in the Issaquah School District, it's time to register for kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year! We ask incoming families to complete the registration process as soon as possible to help us plan for next year’s staffing and classrooms.

Hour of Code

Computer Science Education week is held every December in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Grace Hopper. ISD Tech TOSA, Emily Lee works with students and staff at Grand Ridge in addition to several other schools.  Emily states, "Many teachers plan an “hour of code” during that week, to engage students in critical thinking, collaboration, and creative problem solving. This exposure also helps ensure that all of our students feel like they belong in the world of computer science, which is a critical component in closing the tech gaps we see in society."

Kindergarten Engineering Day

In a vibrant display of creativity and learning, the local kindergarten hosted its annual Engineering Day, where students delved into the world of engineering with hands-on projects. Each classroom turned into a unique workshop, presenting the students with different challenges: constructing buoyant boats, designing intricate marble mazes, building imaginative box robots, and engineering towering cup structures. The event allowed the young minds to rotate through every station, ensuring a diverse and enriching experience.

This special day not only introduced basic engineering concepts but also fostered teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking among the kindergarteners. The enthusiasm and ingenuity displayed by the students were a testament to the effectiveness of early STEM education, laying a foundation for their future in innovation and design.

Meet Principal Jill Ravenscraft!

Hi, Grizzly families! The best parts about being a principal are that I get to be with kids all day long, I have the honor of watching dedicated staff members support our students in the most devoted and creative ways, and I get to see our collective future unfold right before my very eyes.  What’s not to love? A few fun facts about me: I really enjoy the children’s books “Maniac Magee” (I cannot get through it without crying) and “There’s a Monster at the End of This Book” (Sesame Street, from when my son was little). When I’m listening to music, I’ll pick anything that I can dance and clean to (NO Techno, however). My bucket list includes visiting all of the U.S. National Parks and staying in an apartment with a view of Central Park in New York City from Thanksgiving to New Year’s Day. I’m left-handed, and if I go back two generations on both sides of my family, only my paternal grandfather and one cousin were also left-handed.
